Relief and Rehabilitation Ministry

In case of any disaster, be it religions, political, natural or otherwise, we try to care and bear the burden along with the victims, and if possible provide vocational training and Rehabilitation. The Officer in charge is Rev. S.O Olatunji (on study leave).

Relief and Rehabilitation Ministry

Immediately after the convention session of 2008, there was a report to our office that First Baptist Church Otu was affected by storm that occurred in Itesiwaju local government of Oyo State. The Convention then sent the Division to see the extent of the damage. Later the Convention sent a token for the repair of the Church Auditorium roof. We continue to minister to the needy as they come to our office after counseling if need be, offer financial assistance.

Towards the end of 2008, there was a political /religious riot in Jos. Many lives and properties were lost. The Convention sent the AGS Admin & personnel together with the Social Ministries staff to see the extent of the damaged done. Some lives were lost, and many homes damaged by fire and some of our churches and pastorium were razed down. First Baptist church Broad Street, Yaba Baptist Church Lagos, Oyo West Conference and some Baptist Building staff were the first to send clothing, and food stuff, and some cash with Deacon J.A Fajobi and Dr. Mrs Akinola and staff of social ministries to Jos. The convention also gave N5, 030,000.00 (five million and thirty thousand naira) to Baptist family that were affected. We give God the glory for His enabling power; we pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen His church for the expansion of His kingdom here on earth.

Towards the end of last year, there was a political/ religious crisis in Jos many churches and houses were burnt or vandalized. Some people were even killed in the crisis. Some of our Baptist Churches and people were affected. The AGS Admin & Personnel led our staff members to the site of the scene and later the Convention, First Baptist Church, Lagos, Yaba Baptist Church and Baptist Building family members sent some relief materials as clothing, food stuff and cash to these brethren of ours that were involved in the crisis. Oyo West Baptist Conference also send bags of Rice. We bless God for the opportunity to be of assistance to these men and women of God.

Rehabilitation Centre
As regards to the rehabilitation Centre the General Secretary has been working with the Akinyele Local Government Chairman on this. Let us continue to pray that by Convention time, there will be a progress report.
