WELCOME TO THE OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY
(MINISTERIAL) OF THE NIGERIAN BAPTIST CONVENTION.
The Assistant General Secretary (Ministerial) is appointed by the Convention on the recommendation of a Search Committee constituted by theAGS Ministerial Executive Committee of the Nigerian Baptist Convention. The Assistant General Secretary (Ministerial) of the Nigerian Baptist Convention is usually appointed from the Eastern part of Nigeria comprising: Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Imo and Emmanuel Baptist Conferences, and he is only next to the General Secretary as the number two man in the administrative system of the Nigerian Baptist Convention. He is directly responsible to the General Secretary, but may not necessarily succeed to the office of the General Secretary.

Qualification:
The Assistant General Secretary (Ministerial) must be an ordained minister of the Gospel with not less than ten years experience after his post graduate degree from the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso.

Duties:
a) To relate directly as adviser and supervisor to the directors of the departments under his administration.
b) To represent on the Executive Committee the department under his administration.
c) To serve as chairman of the Convention Strategy Committee and coordinator for Joint Strategy Planning.
d) To represent the General Secretary on any boards, committees, or assignments as may be directed.
e) To serve as chairman of the Convention Programme Planning Committee.
f) To serve as a liaison officer between the Retired ministers of the Nigerian Baptist Convention and the Convention in general.
g) To plan the programme of preaching and worship on the Convention Sunday.
h) To coordinate the Ordination plans for the Nigerian Baptist Convention pastors i.e. interviews etc.
i) To make peace between pastors and their churches throughout the Convention territory.
j) To collate Pastors’ records and keep them safe for future reference.
k) To coordinate the Ministerial Board meeting and report to the Executive Committee and to the Nigerian Baptist Convention.
l) To coordinate the Committee on the formulation of beliefs and practices of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, for and on behalf of the Ministerial Boards.
m) To plan the annual programme and coordinate the Retreat of the Conference Secretaries.
n) To assist Retiring pastors to accelerate their programs, payments and prospects.
o) To coordinate chapel services in the Baptist Building three times a week.
p) To perform from time to time any other duties as may be assigned by the General Secretary and provide support and assistance to the General Secretary.
q) By the nature of his job, he is the Pastor of all pastors of the Nigerian Baptist Convention.
In this regard, the Assistant General Secretary (Ministerial) must be not only an experienced pastor, but one who lives and upholds a high moral standard

Conclusion:
The Assistant General Secretary (Ministerial) obeys and supports the vision and mission of the General Secretary, and promotes the Nigerian Baptist Convention programmes along with the General Secretary. He acts on behalf of the General Secretary and reports all actions to him on his arrival. In all their interactions, relationship is their hallmark.
