Report of the National Coordinator of the Medical and Health Services to the Nigerian Baptist Convention 97th Annual Session at the Nigerian Baptist Convention Conference Centre Kubua, Abuja. 17th-22nd April 2010. All glory and honor to the almighty God and our Lord Jesus Christ who has given us the privilege of sharing and fellowshipping together in these beautiful gathering of God’s people. The blessings of the year of Jubilee are very much in the air and we shall all partake of it in Jesus name. BHF: The Baptist Health Fellowship, the body of the Baptist Health workers in private and public health institutions has been contributing immensely to the work of God in Medical Ministry of our great convention. They have been partnering with the Global Mission Board in actualizing medical Mission. Members from different part of the country travelled to Dukawa Home Mission field in October this year for Medial mission outreach. Within the short time and long distance travelling 400 hundred people were treated for various ailments, free drugs given to them, 62 persons were treated for eye problems and were given free eye glasses, all the glasses were donated by a member from her hospital, and 200 were preached the gospel to in a predominantly Moslem enclave. The sum of 100,000 naira was donated to the Global mission towards the Completion of Mission Hospitals. We encourage all other Health workers in our midst to join the BHF in order to carry on more of this mission work. Medical Board: Involvement in the training of the medical doctors with medical mission in mind. Exploring possibility of getting more Christian Corpers who are medical doctors through Christian Coppers fellowship to work in Baptist Health facilities. Accessing the services of an international medical organization called “Doctors without Boundary”. Exploring our connection in America for posting of Doctors into our Hospitals from such institutions that are sending their students to Africa for tropical experience. Encourage BUTH to adopt some of this hospital for community health posting. Creating a conducive working environment for the Doctors in our Hospitals particularly issue of housing and remunerations. All these beautiful suggestion are going to be explored but at the same time some the medical practitioners among us and those in training who have the calling of God upon their life for a missionary enterprise like our America pioneers should listen to the voice of god and act promptly.
