HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

For instance, the Men's Missionary Union (MMU) started in1919 as Men's League. Shortly after it inception, the organization died a natural dead. It was early in1960 that significant effort was made to revive it. Today, the MMU is made up of Baptist Men's Fellowship and Royal Ambassadors. Initially, Baptist Youth Ministry was part of Men's Missionary Union, when it was called "Men Youth and Boys' Work" Baptist Student Ministry started in 1958 and Prison was established in 1997.
The Convention merged these departments together in 1998. The same arrangement gave birth to Christian Education, merging: Sunday School, Church Training, Adult Education, and Children Ministries.
