Romans 4:13-25

“Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God” Romans 4:20, NLT

The father of a young undergraduate boy promised to buy a car for him on the day of his graduation. He kept pondering on the possibility of the promise, not because he did not want a car, but because of the financial situation in his home. However, he continued to work hard, since that was the condition his father attached to the gift. He believed his father would not default on his promise to him and he was proven right when his father handed the key of a brand new car to him on his graduation day.

Receiving the promises of God depends largely on faith. Abraham, even though his body was as good as dead, believed that God could not lie. He was confident of the ability of God to give him a son in his old age. He realised that God’s power was not limited to what could be seen, because He “calls things that are not as though they were” (v. 17). Do not lose your faith, even when it seems the promises of God are not coming to reality. If an earthly father cannot fail, then God, our heavenly Father, will not. Stir up someone’s faith over God’s promises for his or her life today.
