Convention Must Be a Priority, Akanji tells Pastors

President, Nigerian Baptist Convention and Visitors to the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso, Rev. Dr Isreal Adelani Akanji, FAR, passionately enjoined all the 2023 graduating students and, by extension, all Baptist ministers, to go and be ambassadors of Christ and of the Convention saying emphatically that if all Baptist ministers are to put in their best, the denomination will move better and do greater things in the kingdom.

The Visitors reminded the graduating students that the seminary is never run by their school fees, because such could never cater for the overwhelming needs and demands of the institution, but the NBTS is being monthly and greatly subsidized by the Convention, adding that after graduation, the denomination has to be the priority of all Baptist ministers and their churches.

The NBC helmsman, who lamented some pastors’ untoward attitude towards the Convention after graduation by going against the NBC’s agreed decision, challenged all such to desist from going out there and deliberately doing things against the denomination, thereby becoming misleading theologians of the people. He cried out thus: “Don’t join those who graduated from this institution and who do not care about the denomination again, but rather working contrary to the NBC.”

The man of God also urged the ministers to fan into flame the gifts of God in them, in order to fulfill the ministry God has bequeathed to them, stressing that whatever gift God has given to each of them must be utilized to the highest maximum and so they should be their best for God in all.
